Access to community information

Chicago Area Project (CAP) aims to make its website useful to people with disabilities and people using different devices or assistive technologies. If a page or resource prevents you from finding information or contacting us, please use the assistance options below.

Accessibility goal and status

Our accessibility goal is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. Conformance of the complete website has not been established through a comprehensive accessibility audit. This statement is not a certification of compliance.

Using the site

The website includes a skip-to-content link, page headings, labeled form fields and text links to community profiles. You can use the community directory links to find a profile without relying on the map.

Use your browser’s zoom controls to enlarge content. Keyboard users can move between links and controls using Tab and Shift+Tab and activate links using Enter.

Documents and external content

Some downloadable documents, historical materials, videos and external community boards may present accessibility barriers. Donation services, social media and affiliate websites are operated separately. If any of these resources is difficult to use, let CAP know which information or task you need help with so we can discuss an alternative way to access it.

Request help or report a barrier

Email or call CAP’s main office, or use the contact page. For email, use the subject “Website accessibility.” You can request assistance or an alternative format without disclosing a diagnosis or medical information.

When reporting a problem, include:

• The page address or document title.
• What you were trying to do and what prevented you.
• Your preferred way to receive a reply or access the information.
• Your browser, device or assistive technology, if you wish to share it.
